> DESCRIPTION
This will be the first art show of medical student / artist Steven Swancoat.  He is a current 4th year medical student pursuing a residency in obstetrics and gynecology. Encouraged by his father soon after moving to New York to pursue medicine, Steven started in photography and moved to painting in his Upper West Side studio in February 2011. His works can be found in hospitals, offices, medical practices and homes in New York and New Jersey. His most inspiring artists include Marcel Duchamp, Vincent Van Gogh, Roy Lichtenstein and Mr. Brainwash.
Also included are the collaborated works of Ryan Gnesda, a close friend and 4th year medical student who lived with Steven for the month of January. The two worked closely on creating new works of fine art, both for the show and local establishments. Although considered taboo by many art critics, the collaboration of the two medical students has allowed for the flourishing of the “artistic manifestation.”
The Show:
Titled “Collaboration,” works of acrylic and mixed media, including their new innovative technique, the “stencil splatter” will be shown. Nancy’s Wines is to sponsor the event with a wine tasting from various wine vendors. Music and audio will be provided by Bang & Olufsen.
15% will be donated to Ovarian Cancer Research Fund to help raise awareness and detection of Ovarian Cancer, one of the worst and deadliest cancers for women. Direct donations can be made at the show. Please feel free to bring friends, family or spouses.
