> DESCRIPTION

The College of Saint Elizabeth will open its spring semester with The Abstract Universe:Microcosm/Macrocosm, a multi-disciplinary program, funded in part by the National Endowment for the Arts, that will examine the relationship between art and science.

From January to April 2012, CSE presents an art exhibition and related events that begins with an opening reception at the Therese A. Maloney Art Gallery, in Annunciation Center on campus, 2 Convent Road, Morristown, N.J., Monday, January 23, from 4:30 to 7 p.m. The exhibition reveals how astronomy, biology, chemistry, physics, and other scientific fields inspired contemporary artists when they created their abstract paintings, sculptures, photographs, prints, mixed media pieces, musical works, digital films, and animation sequences. In addition, the exhibition presents works from the scientific community that are, in turn, inspired by art and artistic techniques. The exhibition closes April 15.
