The Prince Street Gallery is pleased to announce its 4th National Juried Exhibition. This year, the gallery is honored to have as Juror, William Bailey, a distinguished artist and Professor Emeritus at the Yale School of Art. Out of 923 images submitted nation wide by 254 artists, Bailey chose 65 works. The diversity of his selections promises to make this 2011 Invitational an exciting and lively show. Paintings by mid-career artists, Dan Gustin and Frederick Ortner, among other mid-career artists, are included alongside emerging artists as well as two American artists, Lucy McGillis and Cynthia Bridgman, who paint in Italy.
Juror William Bailey is represented in the collections of the Whitney Museum of American Art and the Museum of Modern Art. He was elected to the National Academy of Design and the American Academy of Arts and Letters and is represented by Betty Cuningham Gallery in Chelsea, where he
had his most recent exhibition in 2010. Mr. Bailey maintains studios in New Haven and Italy.
The Prince Street Gallery, which marked its 40th anniversary in 2010, opened in 1970 as one of the first galleries in Soho. After 20 more years on Wooster Street it relocated in 2001 to Chelsea.
