440 Gallery hosts “TEXT”

440 6th Avenue, Park Slope, Brooklyn

June 30th, through July 24, 2011.

Opening Reception Thursday, June 30 from 6 - 9 pm

 

A book, words, calligraphy, graffitti on a wall: They are all TEXT and the theme of our juried show at 440 Gallery from June 30 to July 24, 2011.

 

The juror for "Text" is Susan Fleminger, an artist, educator and curator and the Deputy Director for Visual Arts and Arts-in-Education at the Abrons Arts Center of Henry Street Settlement. She has made her choices for artists exhibited in the "Text" theme show at 440 Gallery.

 

The work includes painting, drawing, book arts, printmaking, sculpture, collage, textile and video.

 

The artists in show are: Aveli, Beatrice Bardin, Len Bellinger, Aleksander Betco, Martin Brief, Ellen Chuse, Marcia Cooper, Mia deBethune, Andréa DeFelice, Porter Diteman, Robin Hill, John Kesling, Minjoo Lee, Marion Lerner Levine, Dan McDonald, Toby Needler, Alison Nguyen, Svetlana Rabey, Susan Reedy, Roxanne Faber Savage, Claudia Sbrissa, Miriam Schaer, Carole Turbin, and Marlene Weisman

 

The opening reception is Thursday, June 30 from 6 - 9 pm. The gallery hours are Thursdays and Fridays from 4 - 7pm and Saturdays and Sundays from 11 am - 7 pm.  Most of the work in the show will be for sale, however the gallery, at 440 Sixth Avenue in Park Slope Brooklyn, is free and open to the public.
