Beautiful/Decay is pleased to our participation at the 2008 Pulse Art Fair, New York, this March 27- 30th.
In keeping with Beautiful/Decay’s commitment to supporting nascent voices in the creative community, Beautiful/Decay has chosen a dynamic group of ten emerging artists from the Los Angeles area to participate. This selection of artists visualizes the eclectic nature of the city’s artistic landscape. Through this rich sampling from a wide array of divergent media, Beautiful/Decay gives visual form to its conception of contemporary artistic practice. These diverse cross-sections are unified by an overarching dedication to innovative aesthetics. Beautiful/Decay is pleased to present this roster of breaking talent to the east coast.
Steven Shein’s imagines maximalist geometric saturated synthetic “full void, empty volume” pieces, while Vanessa Chow’s visual feasts blend meditative hand crafted constructions with vibrant idiosyncratic imagery.
Nick Kramer configures modernist conceptual interventions and placements and Katie Ryan works dually, creating large-scale installations, as well as souvenir-like objects that blend manufactured materials with organic, pseudo-metaphysical icons.
Audria Brumberg’s conflatest digital machinations with intricate line work, and Doug Harvey’s whimsical works imbue imaginative forms with surprising elements of subtle irony. Also represented are Christopher Chin’s optical architectural abstractions, Aaron Turner’s humorous elevated expressionist doodles that evoke diaristic passages, and Daniel Ingroff’s fairy-tale like imaginations that call to mind magical narratives. Benjamin Britton fashions sumptuous gestural and layered compositions that reference textural, organic and synthetic aesthetics.
