Lautreamont Concerts: Focus on Mendelssohn

Mendelssohn was one of the most gifted composers the world has ever known, surpassing even Mozart in terms of precocity. Mendelssohn had a gift for writing lyrical melodies and for crafting carefully refined pieces. The two works on the program were written before he was thirty years old.
Program for Thursday, January 31 at 7 o’clock

Mendelssohn: Piano Trio No. 1 in D Minor
A staple of the chamber repertoire, an inspired work of great melodic beauty and pianistic virtuosity
Steven Zynszajn, violin
Alistair MacRae, cello
Steven Graff, piano

Faure: Nocturne No. 2 in B Major
Satie: 3 Gnossiennes
Relaxing and impressionistic music for the piano, a breather between the two Mendelssohn juggernauts
Steven Graff, piano

Mendelssohn: String Quartet No. 3 in D Major
A sunny, exciting string quartet, full of drive and vitality
Steven Zynszajn, Violin
Francisco Salazar, Violin
Whitney LaGrange, Viola
Alistair MacRae, Cello

About the musicians: Lautreamont Concerts is a dynamic ensemble composed of internationally renowned soloists. They are graduates of the Juilliard School, the Paris and Moscow Conservatories, and have performed in the United States and internationally in such venues as Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall. CAM is thrilled to welcome them back for another performance.

A wine reception with the musicians will follow the performance. Come early to tour CAM’s permanent collection, which will be on view through January 31st.
