STREAMING MUSEUM
THE ARTS IN CYBERSPACE AND PUBLIC PLACES

SIMULTANEOUS LAUNCH ON SEVEN CONTINENTS JANUARY 29, 2008

CHELSEA ART MUSEUM PARTICIPATES IN GLOBAL NETWORK
with screenings of
Good Morning Mr. Orwell by Nam June Paik

New York, NY - Streaming Museum, which presents real-time exhibitions in cyberspace and public space on seven continents, will launch on January 29, 2008. Chelsea Art Museum, Home of the Miotte Foundation, is participating in the global networked exhibition beginning January 29 through February 2.

Initiated by Nina Colosi, Curator of New Media and Performing Arts at Chelsea Art Museum, the project will present an ongoing program of multi-media exhibitions in collaboration with international curators and cultural institutions. Streaming Museum is conceived as a source of free cultural content and public service messaging on the environment, education and health, accessed via Internet and in high visibility public locations.

The opening exhibition, Good Morning Mr. Orwell, by pioneer video artist Nam June Paik, is a transcontinental musical extravaganza that interweaves fine art and pop culture icons. Paik's ideas in the 1970s about the "information superhighway" and global connectivity forecast the Internet. Visitors to the exhibition venues on seven continents are invited to upload pictures, via cell phone or email, to the Streaming Museum website.

Please see www.StreamingMuseum.org for information and location schedules for Good Morning Mr. Orwell and work by other contemporary visual, performing, fashion, and theater artists.

Good Morning Mr. Orwell is presented courtesy of Electronic Arts Intermix, New York, and Paik Studios, New York. Streaming Museum is a member of the International Urban Screens Association and is sponsored by ONSSI On-Net Surveillance Systems, Inc., NRDC National Resources Defense Council, SK Telecom, FJC - a Foundation of Philanthropic Funds, Direccion Nacional Del Antarctico, Antar Programma Antartico Argentino.
