> DESCRIPTION

T MINUS 20 is organized by IGNITE, the artist representation and licensing company founded by Jason LeBlond and Ves Pitts, coinciding with the launch of Ignite’s website plus on-line store: www.ignitelicensing.com

T MINUS 20 is a multi-media exhibit on two levels.  The 1st level is a presentation of artist T-shirts, with unique designs by an exciting and eclectic line-up of 20 different artists utilizing T-shirts as their blank canvases, or who have based a concept around a T-shirt.  Featuring notables such as: fashion icon & media sensation Christopher Lee Sauvé; legendary painter / sculptor / T-shirt designer Scooter LaForge; with unique interpretations by acclaimed fine artists such as Olek, Brian Kenny, Inbred Hybrid Collective, and Ian Wright; accomplished fashion illustrators Marcos Chin and Fernanda Cohen; genius costume designer Machine Dazzle; as well as famed photographer and Warhol Factory veteran Christopher Makos.

The 2nd level is an installation of innovative video art.  T MINUS 20 breaks down boundaries of art and fashion… two arenas that often battle for Manhattan real estate. The video “Bar Fight” by Devan Simunovich seems to illustrate this concept, with a silvery CGI mannequin that busts out of its glass box, surrounded by scattering neon letters.  T MINUS 20 presents art that won’t sit still… whether it’s art that you can wear, or exciting images in motion, which in some cases literally jumps off the wall, as in the dynamic experimental 3-d video art by Sweatshoppe.

T-shirts generally are an inexpensive item, and thus T MINUS 20 is also a response to the current economic climate, which has been addressed by the brilliant recent Grace Jones video "Corporate Cannibal" directed by Nick Hooker, which will be featured.  In the context of current events such as the B.P. oil spill disaster, this video is even more relevant, powerful and unsettling then ever.  Additional video artists will include: SUPERM (Slava Mogutin + Brian Kenny), Desi Santiago, Julia Oldham, Christian Weber, J. G. Zimmerman and more.
