The origi nal Womanhouse Project in Los Angeles in 1972 was one of the \;most imp ortant and famous art projects in feminist art history. It \;included s ome of the first major instances of installation art and of \;feminist performance art in the United States. The artists included in A \;&ldqu o\;Womanhouse&rdquo\; or a Roaming House? &ldquo\;A Room of One&rsquo\;s Ow n&rdquo\; Today \;address questions similar to those posited by the ori ginal exhibition\, but through a contemporary lens: What is the space neces sary for an artist to make art in and for whom? Rather than a &ldquo\;Woman house&rdquo\; ought we now to envision a Rooming House or a Roaming House? What are the implications of the gendering of space\, who owns domestic spa ce\, and is creativity more a private pursuit or a public one?
