In this body of w ork\, the artist investigates the language and imagery analogous to one's u nderstanding of mortality. \; In each piece\, Calabrese assembles elabo rate constructions of objects and images in an attempt to engage this subje ct through both representational and psychological perspective. \; Deca ying and blooming flowers\, holes in the earth\, a white flag floating over a city scape are all visual metaphors for decay\, fear of the unknown\, an d surrender. \; Through a variety of interventions their meanings are t ransformed.
