In this new body of work,  Brooklyn artist Miya Ando Stanoff has begun examining the different levels of consciousness within her quiet environments on steel ‘canvas’. Stanoff has embarked on this new direction by first creating meditative spaces and then layering multiple fields within these seemingly endless planes in order to investigate the spectrum of thought within these compositions. She is very interested in the visual and conceptual dialogue and the revelations that result from the recursive layering of thoughts and feelings within these subliminal expanses.  She is displaying larger-format works for this exhibition.

Stanoff is a ½ Japanese, ½ Russian artist who lives and works in Brooklyn, New York.  She spent her childhood in a Buddhist temple in Japan and comes from a line of renowned Japanese Sword smiths.
