South Ferry 1 Train Subway Station

In March of 2009, the MTA’s Arts for Transit project unveiled a site-specific installation in the South Ferry station of the 1 train, made by identical twins and long time collaborators Doug and Mike Starn. The installation features several works from their Absorption of Light series, here turned into tiles that create beautiful mosaics. The series consists of tangled backlit tree branches that, in this new permanent setting, reflect the continuous flow of city life.
