Ten Thousand Meals Than Ever Yet P.P.O.W. Gallery This Thursday, August 6th, the artist Bryan
Zanisnik will showcase his latest “still performance,” Ten Thousand Meals
Than Ever Yet, during the opening of the
exhibition Young Curators, New Ideas II at P.P.O.W Gallery. Continuing
the tradition of collaborating with his parents, Zanisnik will lie in a six-foot
coffin-shaped table covered in cooked pasta. While his parents sit immobile in mid-bite on either sides
of the table, Zanisnik provides the only movement in this two-hour act, as he
tugs at a string that is connected to his father’s pasta dish. Conceived as both performance and
sculptural piece, Zanisnik alludes to the long European tradition of Tableau
Vivant that occurred in social gatherings much like this opening. Posted by Yaelle Amir on 7/24 | tags: performance |
