In last week’s TimeOut featuring the best brunch spots in NYC, they taste-tested six classic bagel and lox sandwiches at some of the most adored bagel shops around town. While they didn’t include Murray’s, it’s understandable, since they included two of my other favorite bagel places, Ess-a-Bagel and La Bagel Delight – and let’s face it – there are lots of amazing bagels in the city.  I abstain from declaring an absolute number one favorite bagel, and would advocate for having a favorite bagel in every neighborhood you frequent. So while you’re cruising Chelsea galleries stop at Murray’s Bagels’ 8th Avenue location. The bagels are classically chewy on the inside, and toasty crunchy on the outside (without being toasted – I think they are morally against toasting).
