From Above

"From Above"- a solo exhibition showcasing the work of Merrill Steiger at Allen Gallery in Chelsea, comes highly recommended. Anyone mildly interested in Aerials, vibrant colors or abstract forms would be enamored by Steiger's vast, sprawling canvasses, which are intricate and bursting with a wide spectrum of color. These abstract renderings depict overhead, bird's eye perspectives of several different subjects: from verdant marshes to water parks, from oil refineries to vast lakes. The paintings are almost cartographic- but the abundance of color combined with an intimate perspective inject a creative, artistic life into something normally used for functional purposes and not aesthetics.
