Los Angeles is made up of an array of cultural backgrounds and art plays a fundamental role in bringing people together. Through art, we can connect to our roots, relate to the culture of our parents and bring people of other backgrounds together to appreciate one another’s culture values and traditions.
As supporters of the art community, the makers of HERDEZ® brand have launched the HERDEZ® Brand 2014 T-Shirt Design Contest. Southern California artists are invited to submit unique creations that convey the essence of Día de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, a holiday honoring and celebrating loved ones who have passed.
The winning piece will be featured as the signature design of the 2014 Día de los Muertos t-shirt. The winner will also receive a cash prize of $1,000 and have their artwork displayed at the Museum of Latin American Art (MOLAA) in Long Beach, CA. T-shirts featuring the winning design will be on sale throughout the month of October, with all proceeds benefiting the museum.
Artists are encouraged to create and submit artwork that evokes the vitality and spirit of the holiday. Entries will be accepted through September 14, 2014 via www.herdeztraditions.com/tshirt-design-contest.
HERDEZ® would like to extend this opportunity to all artists in SoCal, in hopes of assisting in the advancement of one talented individual’s artistic career.
