Call for german curators

VONTOBEL-AMADEUS ARTS AWARDS

International curator competition

2014: Berlin-Budapest

CALL FOR HUNGARIAN AND GERMAN CURATORS

Amadeus Art Foundation as the largest private foundation for contemporary art in the country has been sponsored by the Swiss Bank Vontobel AG for years. This year the Vontobel AG invited the Foundation to create a permanent, art supporting independent program. As a result, in 2014 the Amadeus Art Foundation launches the Vontobel-Amadeus Arts Prize.

The Vontobel-Amadeus Art Prize aims to promote contemporary Hungarian art, to expand its international relations and to support especially important fields of art. To this end, similarly to our work so far, after careful consideration and cooperating with the significant organizations of the Hungarian scene we will fill the Prize with a new concept every year, which thus can become a flexible and dynamic intellectual product that includes several people and field of art, following the national and international trends.

In this first year we start our program by linking artists and curators who move between Berlin and Budapest, which concept was made in cooperation with the professional partner of the Young Curators Program, the cARTc Non-profit Cultural Association. Within the framework of the project we create a special curator’s competition, encouraging the flow of cultural exchanges between the two cities.

Given that the city of Berlin is the guest city of this year’s Art Market Budapest contemporary art fair, this is an excellent opportunity to organize the winning exhibition related to the year’s artistic concept and to award the Prize. The contents of the application, the location and the circle of the applicants:

We welcome exhibition proposals from Hungarian or German from curators / curator groups. Those entries have an advantage where Hungarian and German artists together provide a curatorial exhibition concept.

Applications are open to all Hungarian and German curators and art professionals under the age of 40. At the end of the application period a winner concept is selected, which will be implemented at the time (9-12 October 2014.) and venue (Millennium) of the Art Market Budapest contemporary art fair on a 20 m2 stand. The winners will receive their prize at the opening ceremony of the exhibition, in front of a large audience from the representatives of Bank Vontobel.
