Candy Apple stars and is directed by artists Dean Dempsey, and has a cast of familiar art world and nightlife faces like the Voluptuous Horror of Karen Black and Sophia Lamar, that make this film a relatable pseudo-reality to real New Yorkers. The full length feature film debut from visual artist Dean Dempsey, CANDY APPLE is a collaboration with CREEM that will release in September 2014.
After burning bridges out west, double-amputee Terry Trash moves in with his adult son Bobby in his small apartment on the Lower East Side. Bobby is reluctant but committed in helping his ex-junky father while trying to stay focused on his own creative pursuits. Unbeknownst to one another is that each lives a double life and has illegal means of earning cash. With perilous outcome, the pair battle to balance desire with responsibility in this Dark Comedy.
Dean Dempsey is a New York-based visual artist and filmmaker who has directed and showcased several short films throughout North America, Europe and Asia. CANDY APPLE will also be the focus of a traveling art exhibition in 2015. Dean is represented by BOSI Contemporary, New York
