Denise Treizman (b. 1979, Santiago, Chile)

I make interdisciplinary work that re-purposes found and ready-made objects; materials I find on my surroundings initiate work that is in constant flux. Objects are playfully transformed and combined resisting conversion into a specific medium or finalization. This potentially endless process investigates informality, improvisation and new forms of abstract assemblage. Using society’s excess I emphasize an overly consumerist culture where the disposable condition of things is given. Working on the street and the studio the difference between art and life becomes slight.

Education: MFA Fine Arts, School of Visual Arts NY, 2013. Fine Arts Certificate, Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile, 2007. BBA, Marketing and Administration, Universidad Catolica de Chile, 2002.

Denise Treizman was chosen as a Juried Winner in Round #3 of the 2014 ArtSlant Showcase series.
