This long weekend, take your extra time off to get your application together for the Solo(s) Project House Residency 2014
I’m honored to have been invited to be a judge for an incredible residency and exhibition opportunity at the Solo(s) Project House, a venue in Newark, NJ that pushes beyond the white cube and instead encourages experimentation, avant-garde performances and an abandonment of limitations. I strongly urge artists to apply who have projects in mind that a traditional gallery may dismiss (ie. if they are “unsellable”) and take this opportunity to create something that is about expression, and not commercialization of your art work. Good Luck!
An Open Call to all artists to fill the Solo(s) Project House 2014 project and exhibit roster.
Solo(s) Project House is a space dedicated to showcasing and elevating creative individuals and or groups that can produce a unified exhibit. Exhibitions focus on the individual and or collective and their strength to utilize a raw space and subsequently to produce a strong “solo” show. Each exhibition is referred to as a “project”, since the entire exhibit is constructed, documented and ultimately exhibited in the SPH main gallery. The duration of each project is approximately 6 weeks, with a week to install and a week to breakdown. Each project will open with a reception and close with an artist talk.
NEW: All SPH 2014-15 selected Solo(s) will be matched with a Manhattan solo exhibition at sister space, S & J Project(s) located at 191 Henry St. New York, NY.
