We currently have a fixed-term opportunity for a Curator in the Sculpture section to provide cover during the absence of a senior colleague on successive research fellowships until the summer of 2015. The post involves a range of duties to assist in the maintenance and improvement of the collections management and access to the Sculpture collection, including responsibility for managing the section library, archive and volunteers, and responding to public enquiries. Overseeing the delivery of the Robert H. Smith Renaissance Sculpture Programme is a key element of this post. The Curator will also undertakeresearch and enhance online catalogue entries, notably in relation the Italian post-medieval collection, together with other relevant duties.
The successful candidate will be educated to at least degree level with practical experience of work within a museum or other relevant cultural organization, including collections management. Excellent grammatical English, computer skills and a good working knowledge of a relevant second modern language are essential, as are good time-management and team-working skills, and the ability to multi-task with limited supervision. Experience of supervising staff and managing budgets are also required, together with a demonstrable interest and knowledge of European, notably Italian post-medieval sculpture, and a commitment to the broadest public access.
Please note this is opportunity is a full time, fixed contract for circa 20 months, starting asap in Autumn 2013
