District Kunst und Kulturförderung is seeking applicants for its Studio Grant program for a period of 6 months starting on December 1, 2013.

Founded in 2010 on the grounds of the historic Malzfabrik, District Kunst- und Kulturförderung offers an interdisciplinary think and work space for the collaborative intersection of art and other fields of knowledge. Our focus rests on artistic ideas that deal with urban space and its appropriation as well as a new understanding of the commons. Taking its de-central location as conceptual premise, District offers a platform for the articulation of perspectives which are currently at the margins of political and cultural representation.

District’s Studio Grant program concentrates explicitly on the promotion of contemporary women artists. Since 2010, we have awarded the studio grant to visual artists with the aim to open a room where long-term dialogues between artistic, curatorial, research and educational practices can evolve.

The next scholarship holder will be awarded the use of a 15 m² studio in our building for a period of 6 months from December 1, 2013 to May 31, 2014. There are no restrictions based on nationality or age. Unfortunately we are not able to cover for any travel or accommodation expenses.

The recipient of the scholarship will be determined by a jury. The composition of the jury will be announced only after the application deadline and the jury members will not give reasons for its decision.

Please apply with a CV, a work proposal for the 6 months, a portfolio of no more than 10 pages (max. 3 MB) and, if necessary, a link to stream videos by Tuesday, October 29th, 2013 to Ulrike Schrader at post@district-berlin.com.

For questions please contact us during the business hours: Tuesday to Thursday from 10am to 6pm at +49 30 71093093.
