Brooklyn's AFROPUNK FEST is thrilled to announce it's back for the 9th year!

Get a sneak peek of AFROPUNK ART program before it travels to SCOPE Miami Beach this year!

The 2-day AFROPUNK experience will be a mash up of music, food, art, and life style sports. This year the AFROPUNK FEST will take over Commodore Barry Park in Brooklyn from 12 noon to 9pm on Saturday, August 24th and Sunday, August 25th.

AFROPUNK is an influential community of young, gifted people of all backgrounds who speak through music, art, film, comedy, fashion and more. Originating with the 2003 documentary that highlighted a Black presence in the American punk scene, it is a platform for the alternative and experimental. Remaining at the core of its mission are the punk principles of DIY aesthetics, radical thought and social non-conformity. AFROPUNK is a voice for the unwritten, unwelcome and unheard-of. AFROPUNK is defining culture!

The AFROPUNK FEST features 2 massive stages showcasing some of the most exciting alternative artists and bands from the US and abroad. This year’s line-up features New Orleans bounce artist Big Freedia, NYC’s downtown darling Mykki Blanco, festival veteran Saul Williams, hip-hop heavyweights Danny Brown, Jean Grae, Chuck D, UK's The Heavy, Brooklyn’s own metal prodigies Unlocking the Truth, Battle of the Bands winners Meatloaf Muzik, Wicked Wisdom fronted by Jada Pinkett-Smith, Living Colour, and more.

Beyond music, the AFROPUNK FEST experience also includes ART + TIMES - a creation of several live art installations, a custom motorcycle show, BITES&BEATS food fair with more than 26 of NYC's best food trucks on-site, and THE SPINTHRIFT MARKET filled with local vendors.

For the first time ever, AFROPUNK festival goers can elevate their AFROPUNK 2013 experience with the V-VIP ARTist Pass. Attendees can experience the mash-up of music, art, and food with ease and exclusive access to the ABSOLUT X AFROPUNK ARTist LOUNGE.
