The Piedmont Center for the Arts announces a call to SF Bay Area artists to feature their work in a juried art show premiering November 1, 2013 in Piedmont, CA.
The Piedmont Center for the Arts is honored to have Rene de Guzman, Senior Curator of Art, Oakland Museum of California, selecting works for our first juried art exhibition, entitled Return to Simplicity. The theme is meant to reflect the current emphasis on a return to basics, much like there was during the Arts & Crafts movement of the early 20th century where artists found refuge in using organic materials and handcrafted products. Open to artists working in all 2 dimensional media and living in Bay Area. This juried show offers a window into the most current developments in contemporary art of this region. Cash prize will be given courtesy of the John P. Thornborrow Memorial Endowment Fund. Awards: 1st place - $2,500, 2nd- $1,000, 3rd- $500 plus Honorable Mentions. The Center does not take a commission for art works sold through the show but would appreciate a 10% voluntary donation.
All artwork must have been created within the past 3 years. Artists can submit a maximum of five (5) images and a minimum of (3) images. Entry fee is $40 for three images, and $5 per image thereafter. All works must be able to be hung on the wall to be considered (wired for easy hanging) and are limited to 48 x 36 inches including frame and may not exceed 30 lbs. Media ranging from photography, wall sculpture, fabric, mixed media, printmaking, all paintings and drawings including oil, acrylic, pastels, ink, graphite.
