Heather Rivera (b. 1977, Port Jefferson, NY)
I love taking photographs of things people see every day and putting a new twist on them. I like to give my viewers a new perspective through my lens, this way everyone gets the chance to look at the world the way an artist does. I feel that schooling has nothing to do with the ability to tell a story or make great art, all one truly needs is motivation and creativity. I work mostly with animals, people and common items, which I use for conceptual works of art. Some people may shy away from my more daring pieces, as they tend to be dark, and uncomfortable to view, but then what is art if it does not evoke a strong gut reaction? Art is about feeling and that is precisely what I strive to do is make you feel, what I am about to show you.
I currently live on Long Island in New York, and do most of my photography work in my home or around my area. Some of my work has come from trips outside of NY, but I like to show the world what is in my own backyard. My favorite places to shoot are in Manhattan, I love the people, the vibe and the creative spark I get when walking around town.
Heather Rivera is offering a wide variety of fine art prints for sale in the ArtSlant Salesroom (here)
