Artslant Booth at Aqua

Aqua Mami Fair

1530 Collins Avenue
Miami Beach, FL

It's been a great week in Miami working with the Showcase artists.  Chantel Foretich, Hannes Bend, Robert Minervini, Susan Meyer, and Ursula Sokolowska all made it down to the beautiful south - and we do mean BEAUTIFUL with the 80 degree weather and sunny skies, all a block from the beach.

The people at Aqua have also been amazing to work with, and we can't thank them enough for making this a great experience. The rest was left up to the artists, whose works all stood out, from Chantel Foretich's charming mechanical sculptures to Hannes Bend's simian-turned redux of the Sistine Chapel and classical statuary. Susan Meyer's plexi utopias and Ursula Sokolowska's eerie child portraits have also garnered a lot of stares, oohs and ahs, while Vincent Romaniello and Kirk Crippens' work highlighting the recession struck a conceptual chord that many appreciated. And we won't forget about Robert Minervini's luscious paintings of "dis-splendored" architecture, encroached by nature.

The two-floor Aqua Hotel is a throwback to the stylish 50s, characterized by a casual ease and alluring vibe that is pure contrast to the sterile, commercialized nature of most fairs. Artslant couldn't have asked for a better spot to plant our Showcase for Art Basel week.

We have one more afternoon to go, but for now enjoy these pics from our booth.
