![]() "Tar-glyphs" on Market If you happen to be walking or biking down Market Street, say from Jack Fischer Gallery at 49 Geary to Fecal Face Dot Gallery on Gough and Market, take a look at the surface of the street and you might find something surprising. Market is covered with lines of tar, a temporary seam covering over the cracks in the street, but I noticed these strange, inexplicable spiral shapes recurring several times down the street. One theory is that this is a method of disposing of excess tar, but could there be an artist at work? --Natalie Stanchfield (*Image, A "tar-glyph" on Market Street between 5th and 6th, photo courtesy of Natalie Stanchfield.)
