Knock on Woods International Residencies
Call for proposals
Deadline: 01 July, 2008
Knock on Woods International Residency is a nomadic temporary site that dedicates itself to offering local and international artists a sense of rootedness and respite from a hectic and bewildering globalism. The residency is a para-site that consists of a rustic tent-cabin and a forest of tree-flags that can be situated at almost any host location. Hosts offer backyards, rooftops, neighboring sidewalks, grassy knolls, decks and galleries as wildernesses for the Knock on Woods.
Artists are invited to do a residency with Knock on Woods for a minimum of four hours and a maximum of 24. Proposals are being accepted from now until July 1st 2008.
From August 27th to September 5th, Knock on Woods will be in Montreal. The cabin and forest will be situated on the sidewalk outside Quartier Éphémère in Old Montreal for five days, and for five days in a backyard on the Plateau Mont-Royal. If you have a preference for one of these sites, please mention it in your proposal. Additional information on the history of the project or recent site/residencies can be found at http://thisneckofthewoods.net (follow link to Knock on Woods for specifics of the para-site residency and recent hosts/residents).
