LMCC Downtown Dinner

The Lower Manhattan Cultural Council's (LMCC) Downtown Dinner will be held on May 7 on the top floor of 7 World Trade Center.  The gala fundraiser traditionally unites New York leaders of the arts, cultural, and business worlds for one memorable evening. The event will also honor Mayor Michael Bloomberg, First Deputy Mayor Patricia Harris, and two of the city’s most iconic artists, playwright Edward Albee and artist Kiki Smith.

Designed by architect David Childs, the lobby of 7 World Trade Center also features a large scrolling wall of poetry created by Jenny Holzer. On the 52nd floor, Downtown Dinner guests will take in spectacular sunset and night views of the New York City skyline while watching performances, visual art, and interactive happenings.  Additionally, works on paper created by 200 contemporary artists will also be available, with the identity of each artist remaining a secret until after the sale.

Last year the benefit attracted more than 600 supporters and raised $1,000,000.  Funds directly support LMCC’s renowned cultural planning, innovative artist workspace programs, generous funding opportunities for artists and art groups, and exciting public events in the visual, performance, and new media arts.  For ticket sales and further information, please contact Maureen McMahon at 212-219-9401 (x101) or email (mmcmahon@lmcc.net).
