Group Show at Agora Gallery
September 8th - September 29th

Four colorful landscapes by Indian painter URMIL JAIN form a part of the onging 'MAZE OF MILIEU' exhibition at Agora Gallery. Notable amongst her works is the painting "Woman with Matka", a moodful village scene depicting a mystical confluence of the elements of nature with a wonderful backdrop of the moonlit sky. Whether real or surreal, the deep grays, blues and greens and many Indian red tones in her paintings will strike the romantic cord inside the viewer. Be it the "Environment" or... [more]

Cognition Factor

"Cognition Factor" is the brainchild of the South African filmmaker and cyberpunk Mike Kawitzky. In 64 minutes of documentary Katwitzky manages to evoke some intriguing thoughts from roughly twenty great thinkers revolving around five questions; Is humanity evolving towards something higher or are we doomed to extinction? What is consciousness? Is God a myth? Will a fusion between science and spiritually occur? and What happens when we die? Among th... [more]

At Art Murmur there is a group show about once a month and the artist run the gamut but what was special about this show was the lack of figurative work. The Photographs of Dominic Rouse
Fiction is the lie that tells the truth. Dreams are a reality that open windows onto a mystery.
Dominic Rouse, a contemporary digital photographer from England - now living in Thailand, likes to make images where illusion and reality overlap. His photographs put him in aesthetic relationship to Magritte, Dali, Ernst, Uelsmann, Arthur Tress and Maggie Taylor who are also surreal artists whose images are entertaining, visually dramatic and dream-like.

Technically Perfect

Lui Shtini at Van de Weghe Fine Art
February 26th - April 11th

Lui Shtini’s paintings are technically perfect; flat and photorealist, plastic paintings. However, the iconography seems purposefully strange. There is a disconnect in the compulisvity of the painting and the unobsessive subject matter. The weirdness seems almost insincere, I secretely suspect the artist is hamming it up to be a more "conceptual" artist. For example; despite the unfortunate misspellings of his name and the painting of a toilet next to a wall sprouting mushrooms, the brushwork te... [more]
