This is best installation in public parks ever!

Krzysztof Wodiczko at Galerie Lelong

Krzysztof Wodiczko's Abraham Lincoln: War Veteran Projection is the best public space installation in 2012, this is a must see! You can get a few minutes of a quick documentation at https://vimeo.com/53446621 but I suggest viewing the installation live. Like all of Wodiczko's work, this installation is politically charged, moving and mesmerizing. The brilliance is behind the images of 14 war veternas from Vietnam, Afganistan and Iraq, projected onto the cold bronze statue of Abraham Lincoln. As... [more]

Marsha Solomon, Yang Suk at Able Fine Art NY Gallery

Able Fine Art Gallery in Chelsea, NY is presenting a very special two-person exhibition showcasing the exceptional paintings of Yang, Suk and Marsha Solomon.
These two artists, while quite distinct in style, training, and approach are unified by the use of vivid, saturated fields of pure color, and the focus on beauty in both the natural and imaginary realms.
The bright, color saturated paintings of Yang, Suk display references to sources as disparate as flowers, one of the most traditional sour... [more]

"Loft in The Red Zone" Review
By Jill Smith
The scene of the crime is littered with dusty footprints, several lines of police tape bar entrance into enclaves, and hot, red halogen lights brighten an otherwise dim room. These are just a few of the austere settings in a gripping exhibition on Wall Street entitled “Loft In The Red Zone.”
The brainchild of artist and curator, Marika Maiorova, the exhibition came about as a personal response to the remains of her lofted downtown st... [more]

Post-War American Sculpture in Chelsea

Donald Judd at David Zwirner- 519 W. 19th
May 6th, 2011 - June 25th, 2011

Donald Judd at David Zwirner Gallery is just one of three major sculpture exhibits now on view in Chelsea. This exhibit seen along side John Chamberlain's show (at the Gagosian through July 8th) and the Jasper Johns exhibit (at Matthew Marks through July 1st) make a fine medley of post-war American sculpture.
A 2004 press release written by The Pace Gallery for its show "Donald Judd: Large Scale-Works" (also of late 80's work by Judd) quotes Dutch Art Historian Rudi Fuchs, who advises to view J... [more]

An essay about Rozenmna's work by Joseph Mendelsohn
by Alexandra Rozenman
Alexandra Rozenman at Contemporary Art Network

4/14/11
In an interview, Alexandra Rozenman spoke of, “[t]he longing for a common, known space” as a key to her imagery. She goes on to say that she wants the viewer to enter her painting like an actor whose identity is subsumed by a role. In AFLOAT, Rozenman’s recent series of paintings, the shared theatrical space is an aqueous atmosphere that resembles a pond or flooded earth. It is a precinct of dreams somewhere between liquid memory and the solid remnants of reality at the water’s edge. Th... [more]

Duplicitous Icons of John Rusnak:
Concerning a Unitative Vision
by Mani De Osu
In the Center of the Western World, John Rusnak is making stride in the miring world of which we call Art. The appearance of his new series, Duplicitous Icons, amongst throngs of the non pervasive, unmoving and unchallenging slough of ideas showcased at galleries in the City of New York, has given a much needed exhalation after so long of holding one's breath waiting to see art that moves. After so long... [more]
