ARTIST STATEMENT: Domestic series

Domestic series
A playful series of so many combinations, this is where my body of work began. I wanted to create an image that expressed joy of the feminine domestic enviroment, and the stories that could exist within this place of love, nurture, and responsibility.

ARTIST STATEMENT: Capturing the Ephemeral

Capturing the Ephemeral
Facinated by memory, and objects left to evoke memory, I wanted to create an image that represented the relationship between the two. Symbolism plays a large role in this body of work, and in this series the rose is the feminine aspect of the human being, which is always attached to the home to some degree, for a duration of time. There's a theory that the feminine part of the human psyche is more drawn to reflecting on experiences, and developing wisdom from this. I find this fasinating, and have placed together the feminine, the memory, and the object that evokes the experience to recall an event. The shadows are apt in representing the captured focus of the memory, in this case a loved one that has passed leaving evidence of their existence by means of a object. Also this series represents the means of evoking memory by recording the ephemeral human by way of visual recording.

imagine what if the shadows are evoking the 3D still life objects ... if it is our lives which evoke our souls which here are "metaphorized" as the colour imbued objects ...
wonderful work!

Artist Statement: FEMININE PARADIGMS

Feminine Paradigms
Feminines Paradigm is a series of images that illustrates a progression of conditioning beliefs regarding the feminine throughout the centuries of our societies. From the origin of a belief set by the influential for a specific result that travels through generations unquestioned and nurtured to continue to grow layer by layer until there is only the feeling felt by so many that something isn't right.

Artist statement: THE DEBUTANT SERIES

THE DEBUTANTS SERIES
Some parts of the world still initiate girls into womanhood, and into society through a ritual called The Debutant Ball. This series is a visual expression through the use symbolism of the passing of childhood adolescents into the excitement of the unknown land of women.

Artist Statement: ON THE PEDESTAL

ON THE PEDESTAL SERIES
On The Pedestal is a comment on quite a few issues. Keeping up with the Jones' and the idolising of objects mainly from mass production are the fundemental concepts visually commented on here. Very much an observation on past and current pop culture.

Artist statement: AFTERNOON TEA DELIGHT,( the patina edition) no.s 1 and 2

THE AFTERNOON TEA DELIGHT SERIES
Afternoon Tea Delight is a series that I have had great responses to in past exhibitions. I created it spontaniously which is an exciting experience when creating any work I think. This was the second year of creating my body of work about femininity; at my birhtday afternoon tea celebration. While celebrating I had an idea to preserve the after marth for a shoot about womens possible expectations to perform to certain standards socially. About deprivation and weekness, about womens business; innocense and curruption. Obstructing the identification of the model was to help create a universal narritive rather than a viewer becoming possibly focused on a developed character within the series. The kwerky compositions in the series allow different interpretations to develop, which helps one to expand their imagination. I had alot of fun shooting this and was fortunate to have my great friend Deborah, also an artist, model for me.

Artist Statement: ON THE RED CARPET

THE RED CARPET SERIES
On the Red Carpet is a visual series I created to comment on the women of show business passed, present and future, and particularly the Red Carpet events. As with many of the series I create, symbolism is key. The rose is the most used symbol in my work and represents the female, the goddess, the feminine, the mother etc... The focus here is Lighting; the flash. The red carpet flash! The illumination of beauty. My comment here is no matter how beautiful, and apart from the common people a female star is to appear, she is made of the same stuff, has family, friends, concerns, hopes, and operates as any other female would. She is no better, she is no worse.
