exhibited in 4th block’s international triennial of eco-poster

A poster by graphic designer Leila Singleton has been selected for inclusion in The 4th Block’s VII International Triennial of Eco-Poster exhibition, opening today in Kharkov, Ukraine. Established in 1991 to commemorate the Chernobyl disaster, this juried exhibition aims to represent “the most significant art achievements of the world design community on ecological subject matter.” Following the show, an illustrated catalogue of exhibited works will be published, and Singleton’s poster will become a part of The 4th Block Museum’s permanent collection. The exhibition can be seen at Radmir Expo-Hall, Kharkov State Academy of Design and Arts, and various other venues throughout the city; it concludes May 3, 2009.

featured in 1000 handmade greetings

Four cards designed by artist Leila Singleton appear in Laura McFadden’s latest release, “1000 Handmade Greetings: Creative Cards and Clever Correspondence.” The book showcases greeting cards by “hundreds of leading paper artists, printers, and designers” executed in a wide array of media; Singleton’s designs exemplify this variety, appearing in the Fine Art, Collage & Mixed Media, and Print Gocco Cards sections of the book. Singleton began her collection of greetings, Twilight Cards, in high school (in fact, a card she painted as a 17-year-old is among the designs featured in 1000 Handmade Greetings) and she began selling them in small stores and coffee shops as a high school senior. Though not available for online purchase (yet), interested persons may contact the artist via her website, leilasingleton.com, to buy cards directly.
