More projects and artists have joined the campaign Art in Action - Art and Gender vindicating the role of women in society. This positive feedback from the artists proves the commitment of the cultural world towards making womens´voices heard and shows how important is this theme in contemporary society.

"There is no democracy without women"

La importancia que han tenido y aún tienen cuestiones como el género y el feminismo en el desarrollo de la historia del arte es algo más que evidente. Desde que comenzaran a socavarse los cimientos del relato canónico de esta disciplina, se han ido deconstruyendo algunos Mitos (con mayúscula) que antes imperaban en el discurso.

En la actualidad, lejos de estar en declive estos conceptos nos encontramos con una necesaria revitalización y transformación de los mismos. A tenor de la actual crisis económica y social se justifican algunos datos, como que las mujeres tengan un salario inferior al hombre o incluso en algunos sectores conservadores se pide que vuelvan al hogar, por la saturación que hay en el mercado.
Citando a una gran teórica feminista como lo es Amelia Valcárcel, la agenda feminista para los avances se vuelve especialmente difícil en épocas sin paz civil ni bonanza económica. Sin embargo, y citándola de nuevo, como feministas no podemos sucumbir al miedo, no podemos darnos ese lujo.

El próximo 8 de marzo se celebra el Día Internacional de la Mujer y, quizá más que nunca, debemos plantarnos y no permitir que nuestros derechos se vean mermados o mínimamente cuestionados.
En esta iniciativa que lanzamos desde Enginyart, y a través de las obras de distintos artistas, se reclama la necesidad de seguir reivindicando la igualdad y nuestro lugar en el mundo, porque el feminismo, lejos de ser algo propio de unas pocas, es la base de la ciudadanía.

Art in Action – Art and Gender

A call for artists from all over the world

To commemorate the International Women´s Day, we started an International Artistic Action to explore the relationships between art, gender and culture in a globalized world from the perspectives of the visual art, concretely, video art, video creation and photography. Our objective is to approach the social structures that define artists and art, and how gender is relevant to the creation of culture.

In the last few years, there has been a proliferation of women artists, especially in the visual arts. Unfortunately, despite some positive changes, women artists find huge difficulties to carry out cultural and artistic projects. Therefore, we find necessary with this new media to encourage to adopt a critical perspective regarding the arts, gender and culture in an International Artistic Action which will be worldwide announced and presented in a virtual exhibition with different thematic having women as mid-point. There are also planned performative actions for this day in some cities and an Exhibition of the best artworks in a German Gallery.

International ArtExpo is an independent group of artists founded in 2001 and mainly dedicated to contemporary art and videoart. Most of our last events have been realized in museums, galleries, private foundations and public institutions around the world. Our object is to use new technologies to globalize the language of art, to connect the conceptual points of contact of artists working in every part of the world, all united in the thick plot of the world net.
We work with a number of national and international galleries as well as publishers, museums, curators and writers from all over the world. We help artists through solo and group exhibitions, gallery representation, magazine reviews and advertisements, press releases, internet promotion, as well as various curatorial projects.
