The Glow Festival whch took place from 7pm to 7am on July 19 at the Santa Monica Pier and beach was attended by over 200,000 people who overwhelmed the City of Santa Monica..no one had any idea the turn out would be so huge. Participating as as artist in the event, gave me a different perspective. It was a huge success for our team , SOLAR KOI, as our parade of assemblages of glowing fish navigated the ramp down to the end of the pier without a hitch and the concert, we hosted by Arthur Nakane appeared to be enjoyed by all who made it to the end of the pier..after the concert our parade continued throughout the 3rd. Street Promenade until midnight, much to the delight of the folks in the mall who seemed totally surprised to see our surreal team glowing down the promenade. In blogland the Glow Festival was viewed negatively..no parking...too many people...not enough art...not enough food...not enough water...the event was not prepared for the mass of people who descended on our little town...nonetheless let there be a next time...the city will get it right for GLOW 2...it was a magnificent idea and it wll be a stellar event in the future...The Solar Koi team had the time of their life!!
