Hi :)
DAYDREAMS: opening day picttures

Finally I'm cathing up on some photos from all the shows... Here's my pics from my solo opening DAYDREAMS which will be showing until July 13th, 2008.
Please visit POPKILLER if you are in Little Tokyo sometime during next 3 weeks... I'd love to know what you think of the show... This space is really hard to photograph, so my pics aren't so great for the show unfortunately...

PopKiller is @ 343 E 2nd St. Los Angeles in Little Tokyo....

Here's one of the pieces that I was comissioned to do by DJ XPoint who is holding his painting up :) Does it look like him?
He is a regular DJ at Cannibal Flower. The painting shows LC and DJ Xpoint bumpin' the beats at our shows where I have something to show every month. Anyhoo, this piece is called "A Night at Cannibal Flower."

Thanks fro all the friends who stopped by the opening :) Sorry I dont have all the pics of who came. I don't really get to take too many pictures when I have a bigger show for myself cuz I'm saying hi to people and chatting mostly... So these pics are just what I have.
Special thanks to Catherine Brooks for helping me hang the show. Dunno what I would have done without her help.... I was pretty zombie by the time I was hanging the show, so it would have taken me a lot longer, if I didn't get all that help from my friend.
Thanks to the new myspace friends whom I have met in person too :) i always wanna know if u came or not... i mean people i've never met yet...
anyhoo, more pics, enjoy...

Here are some of my new pieces I finished for this show...
this one is called "Chillin'"

"LOVE KILLS" modeled by Kat n Kaila from Nylon Pink... thanks gals!

oh, here's what i shot with them as my model gurlz. i usually dont use references for my gal characters cuz I dont like to commit to something that exists already, but occasionally I would use models... well, twice in the last year... so here's their actual picture...

what do you think? does it look like them? I really wanted to post my picture of Kat who came to the opening for me and I should have a picture... I don't! I'll try to get another photo opp when I can put the painting next to both of them...

OK, more pics...

work in progress

Here are some new pieces that are going into my DAYDREAMS show... yep, I think about all kinds of things... they are sort of like movies in my head and I make up all sorts of wild stories about my little characters.

the NYLON PINK gals modeled for this one for me. I started this at a few Cannibal Flowers ago at a live show at the Hangar 1018, but left it untouched for a while till now. So this is so far how it looks. a bit more detailing and I'm done!

this piece is called "LOVE KILLS"

MOON BATHER
She's also almost finished... But not. backgournd details to finish still but I want the viewer to feel like she/he is peeping.
she thought she was alone, but wasnt. i think she might be a siren though. that'swhat i keep thinking who she is... dunno yet..

K. me back to work....

Lightning in a Bottle 2008 Pics & the Hive artists paintings there :)

Just got back on Sunday from the 3 dayz of camping in Santa Barbara to participate in Lightening in a Bottle 2008. Wow!!! What a turnout this event was. It was sold out and packed over 7,000 people at a large campground near Lake Cachuma.

It drizzled a bit here and there and was a little chilly at times, but it was so much fun :) I painted in the forest with rest of the people who came from the Hive gallery to donate our live painted murals to support art education.

Anyhoo, here are some pics to show ya...

This is what i donated at the event. Didn't get to hear the result of the auction, but hopefully somebody bought it and gave a good donation for our future little artists...

Some of the Hive peops painting away...

Here are some interesting stuff i snapped while i was there.... very coool clothes and circus like feeling with a hint of the renaissance fair / hippie love / burning man like was the vibe... very friendly and nice peops... loads came from all over the country and some were even from overseas! Didn't know that the event was so popular because I dont usually do these types  of events. I usuallly go to a one day and never camp out... It was super fun :)

I walked down to the river right next to our camp site really early in the morning. The music dies down by morning and is a little quieter but there's different stages going on at all hours... so it's really hard to get a quiet moment, but I found it next to the site by the river.

I was the first one there cuz i was up before sunrise... I felt a bit privilaged for waking up early and going down there before anybody got there.... it's quiet and i stood on a small rock as still as I can and watched the slow currents move and listened to all the morning birds and the rustling leaves of the trees.

Here are some pics I took on a different day at the river while hangin out with a friend from the Hive...

May be you'd wanna check it out when it comes next year. I'd do it again

I'm in the Asian Pacific Islanders Heritage Month Calendar for Dept of Cultural Affairs

'm pretty psyched because I wasn't sure if my submissions for the calendar were accepted. I just checked to see if I made the pages of the API Heritage for Arts and Cultures for the city of LA <3.

This book is pretty cool. I took a good look at the wealth of information that a person can use and also find out about city arts and cultural events that are open to the public. Many events are for families and kids :) If u wanna take your kid to do arts and crafts experience hands on taught by local educators and artists, this would be the calendar to check out. There's a lot you don't know about events around town that is sponsored by the city that you might not know about. It's worth visiting the city's official page because there were so many resources available that I could use too that I was not aware of..
anyhoo, check out the site if you are interested in city's events that promote arts and culture...
Just in the API Heritage calendar alone, there's like 60 or so pages of info, and there's a different calendar for several ethnic heritages to celebrate the diverse cultures that enrich our city :)
K, here's some tear out pages ... sorry i cant post all the info contained, but it's available for download in a PDF format for all the cultural heritage calendar on the city of LA cultural affairs page from the link below if u are interested in seeing what the city does concerning arts and cultures... i didn't know there was that much stuff done by the city myself...
Heritage Month City Calendar

I have to say thanks to the city for putting my work in the pages :)

ART/MUSIC festival for art and music education benefits FESTIVAL 23rd -26th in Santa Barbara, join me :)

I'm duper excited to do this festival for a charity event to benefit Art & Music Education funding which has been cut dramatically in recent.
I'm going with the HIVE gallery to paint a biig mural in the forest :)
The murals we make there will be auctioned off and the money will be donated to fund our local schools to keep it going... i'm down for that.

Besides, we get to go camping. what a great excuse to get away! I get to paint for a good cause, meet more people like that, hangout and camp, go listen to all sorts of music, may be take yoga and belly dancing lessons...

Here's a link to a video of the festival from last year. I'm there from 23rd till the 26th doing a mural in the forest :)

Here's the video link to what it was like last year...
