RIO BABE INTERNATIONAL PRESENTS :: MI PUEBLO

OPENING: MARCH 10, 2010 from 5:30-7:30pm

Sam Strand and Kirby McKenzie present the release of their new brand- Rio Babe International.  Rio Babe International just completed a tour of Oaxaca, Mexico and has constructed a small contemporary Mexican-American-Global marketplace entitled MI PUEBLO.  The opening of MI PUEBLO will be from 5:30-7:30 on Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at North/South Gallery in Oakland.  There will be a special performance at 6:30 along with other one-night only happenings.  The marketplace will then be open March 11-March 14.

MI PUEBLO is based around the extractions and interpretations of specific cultural and visual ideas gathered from Oaxaca.  These sincere elements are then blended with high art, marketing, fashion, various global happenings and pop culture.  The marketplace is prosperous with commissioned Oaxacan craft, handmade Rio Babe fashions, bootlegs, video installation, Mariah Carey, drawings, photos and people.  MI PUEBLO is indeed a marketplace, and will be selling a range of flashy and desired products that fit in your budget.

Rio Babe International is a young conceptual art brand concerned with cultural collisions, lush and thoughtful displays, social gestures and individual attention in marketing.  In order to spread the hot word, R.B.I. relies heavily on advertisements, interactive installations, intentional social gatherings, fashion, community relations and personal mementos.

North/South Gallery is located at 5241 College Ave. Oakland, California
