Ken Garduno: Channels
Black Maria Gallery is pleased to announce Channels, the solo exhibition of Ken Garduno’s most recent work. The exhibition is the manifestation of how the artist sees his surroundings. Influenced by the media and technology, each piece is a visual snapshot of a concept that resonates with the artist. The show is designed to be like a television in that all of the works are quick glimpses of different channels/stories.
The concept of Channels describes Ken’s process. He pulls together influences and inspirations such as human nature, relationships, media, pop culture and architecture. It all begins with a blank piece of paper, and then Ken channels his thoughts.
The channels of this exhibition include the confusion between love and lust, moments of passion, isolationism, the delicate balance between life and death and the comfort and fear of technology.
Ken Garduno was born on October 28, 1977 in Hollywood, California. He graduated from the Art Center College of Design, where he received a BA with honors for illustration. His work has been shown at the Project Gallery in Culver City, Thinkspace in Los Angeles, Black Maria Gallery in Los Angeles, Gallery 1988 in Los Angeles and San Francisco, Atticus Gallery in Barcelona and Art Basel Miami 2007 and 2008.
