Concert Series  2008


Notations 21 concert series Saturdays  10/4, 10/11, and 10/18  at 2 p.m.
Notations 21 is an exhibition (on view at Chelsea Art Museum October 4 – November 1) and concert series celebrating the best and brightest of contemporary composers working with visual scores. Concerts feature performances by leading figures in the field, as well as up-and-coming composers including Halim El-Dabh, internationally regarded a major composer of the twentieth century; composer and flutist Ellen Burr who participated in classes with John Cage; and others.

Telling Stories with Sound and Music

a workshop series designed to create tools for parents to make music part of their child’s everyday life. Through exploration of rhythms, sounds, and texture, Telling Stories with Sound and Music will provide children with an opportunity to integrate music into their developing understanding of the arts. It is intended for children ages 4-6 and their adult companions. Workshops take place every Monday afternoon at 3:30 during the month of October and run 45 minutes. A Listening Area

has been installed in The Project Room to provide guests a facility where they can access actual scores of Notations 21 composers. CD players and headphones complement their listening experience.
