I am excited to announce that I have an upcoming show featuring a new body of work that is all landscape paintings.
For many years I have enjoyed working in various diverse media including film, video, welding, collage, found-object assemblage, and light sculpture. But I will always return to my first love of drawing and painting. Growing up, my father was a plein-aire landscape painter who loved barns and fields and water scenes. He studied with the reputable landscape painter Wolf Kahn. Occasionally he took me with him on his painting excursions. He passed away when I was eighteen. Now, almost thirty years later, I am following in his brushstrokes and embracing a love of landscape painting...even using some of the very same brushes he used.
This show is called SAND & SKY because it is a collection of paintings of Arizona desert scenes. These are images that I saw, some I photographed, some are from memory, some are pleine-aire studies. I participated in an artist residency at the Petrified Forest National Park and have taken several road trips out there. I have a deep love of Arizona and the great west.
