RH Gallery is pleased to announce Intermission 2, the second iteration of Autumn Intermission, a series of performances that complement the three major exhibitions opening this fall at RH Gallery. Conceived by Gallery Director Rebecca Heidenberg and Opalnest Producer Helen Homan Wu, Autumn Intermission provides a site-specific experimental platform that initiates a dialogue with the artists and the distinct architecture of the gallery. Intermission 2 will be situated within the exhibition The Savage Detectives and features Painted Caves with Ursula Scherrer and Vestals.
Painted Caves is the electronic sound project of Evan Caminiti. Using semi-modular analog synthesizers, Caminiti will sculpt narrative in sound to produce an immersive environment; the audience is “part of the story as it’s happening in the moment.” Experimenting with the potential of this instrument, Caminiti’s spectrum includes earth rumbling bass tones to piercing high end pitches. This performance will be a collaboration with visual artist Ursula Scherrer who will present a live video performance integrating fragmented images of nature, the body and geometric abstractions in motion.
Vestals is the solo project of artist Lisa McGee who was part of the duo Higuma with Camniti and the ensemble Portraits. Her recently released debut solo album ‘Forever Falling Toward the Sky' is a taut set of haunting electric ballads woven together with layered guitars and dense vocal arrangements. Swept in a hazy, sun-spotted torrent of restrained feedback and dream pop vocals, the album languishes in soft static crackle.
