Donna Seager Gallery will present The Art of the Book: Sixth Annual Exhibition of Handmade Artist Books, Altered Books and Book-Related Works from March 18 through April 30, 2011.  There will be a reception for the artists on Saturday, March 26th from 6 to 8pm.  A special presentation by the San Francisco Center for the Book entitled Artists and the Press will be held in the gallery on Sunday April 10 from 4 to 6pm.  RSVPs for the talk can be made by calling the gallery at415.454.4229 or emailing

Donna Seager has distinguished herself both in the bay area and around the country for her commitment to the book arts.  Donna spoke about the book as a medium for art at the Aqua Fair in Miami in December and has an area of her gallery with ongoing displays of works related to the book. While this material has long been valued by museums and libraries with special collections, there is a growing interest on the part of collectors who have begun to understand that these objects offer them an experience of art unlike any other.  As always, the Seager Gallery will present as broad an interpretation of the medium as possible. From fine letterpress editions with exquisite printmaking, binding and papers by such noted artists as Carolee Campbell from Ninja Press and Inge Bruggeman to sculptures and wall pieces created from parts of books by artists such as Jody Alexander, Lisa Kokin and Emily Payne this exhibition is an exploration of the fertile ground presented by this exciting medium.

Donna Seager Gallery is located at 851 Fourth Street, San Rafael, CA 94901. 415.454.4229.,  The gallery is open from 11 to 6pm, Tuesday through Saturday.
