> DESCRIPTION

Mayor Antonio R. Villaraigosa honored our most talented Los Angeles Latino artists starting with world-renown opera singer Plácido Domingo, venerable creative artistic group ASCO (Patssi Valdez, Harry Gamboa Jr, Willie Herron III, and Gronk), as well as actor Tony Plana. At the same time, The Latino Heritage Month 2010 Calendar and Cultural Guide was presented by Mayor Antonio R.  Villaraigosa and the Department of Cultural Affairs City of Los Angeles. The guide includes some of the most prominent and promising Latino artists chosen by the Department of Cultural Affairs in recognition of their talent and because they represent the spirit of Los Angeles. (Isabel Rojas-Williams, Art Historian)
