Interactive Performances by Non-directional Beacon
Conrad M. Meyers II premiers a series of new works that include video, sculpture and sound-based installations that derive from speculative medical scientific animation, conceived via the amalgamation of memory, as well as the physical and virtual worlds. The digital images are scans of the artist's own flesh, transformed and imitated into halogenations of moving images of spectacularly alien fields of colors and shapes. The subtle interaction of objects challenge the viewer as they reveal a grotesque ambiguity between their origin and the beautiful futuristic cloned forms. The works that compose FAULT are each non-anatomical, biological puzzles. Each is presented with techniques including digital animation, HD projections, LCD screens, CRTs, pixilated topography, carved maps, light sensors, light flickering, work lists, charts, diagrams, loose-leaf catalogs and live interactive electronic-noise music.
Conrad M. Meyers II is an artist and educator working in sculpture, installation, and new media. He works professionally in fabrication, architecture, and construction and has ten years of experience teaching and supporting 3D spatial design software. His art projects, which derive from speculative medical scientific animation and exhibit, have been shown in Washington DC, Baltimore, Seattle and the Bay area. He received his MFA from the San Francisco Art Institute.
Non-directional Beacon is an artists' collaborative that includes musician Daniel Meyers and visual artist/musician Dave Meyers. Non-directional Beacon's live performances connect and attempt to expand the relationship between audio, video and visual art.
