CHRISTINA RAY Announces “Konbit Shelter,” a one night artist talk and benefit led by Swoon on June 18.

New York, NY – June 11, 2010 – CHRISTINA RAY is pleased to host an informational session with Konbit Shelter, a rebuilding effort composed of a dynamic group of artists and builders standing in solidarity with Haitian communities devastated by the earthquake. Artists and collaborators Benjamin Wolf and Caledonia Curry (Swoon) will speak about their recent visit to Haiti as well as the ongoing plans for a focused rebuilding workshop in Haitian communities planned for this summer. Guests are welcome to participate in a brief question and answer session after the talk. Displayed artwork will also be for sale with all proceeds benefitting the Konbit Shelter project. Participating artists include: Swoon, Tod Seelie, Ben Wolf, Sarah Walko, Mary Beth Burton and Serra Fells. “Konbit Shelter” will be a one-night event, taking place Friday, June 18, 2010 from 7 to 9pm. Space is limited and the talk will begin at 7pm.

Konbit Shelter: As the process of rebuilding in Haiti begins, our goal is to take part in a sustainable and easily replicable building project to benefit the earthquake-affected community. The Konbit Shelter Project will bring the Superadobe building technique designed by Nader Kalili, along with permaculture influence and our creativity as artists, to join forces in Haiti with local builders, farmers and community organizers.
