Brandon Michael Fine Art is pleased to announce the opening of the exhibition Home on the Range by Timothy Horn, June 25th to July 9th, 2010, with an artist’s reception scheduled for June 25th, 5 to 7 pm. The gallery is located at 202 Canyon Road.
Timothy Horn is known for his high chroma depictions of everyday American scenes. Whether painting dilapidated cars or weathered barns, he bathes the subject in clean Western sunlight finding the luminous in the mundane.
Born and raised in the small town of Yellow Springs, Ohio, Horn graduated from the Cooper Union School of Art in New York City in 1984, where graphic design was his primary focus. After finishing school, he worked at several design firms in NYC before moving to San Francisco in 1992, where he continued to work as a designer. Horn took his first painting class in 1998, followed by another in the fall of 1999. He began painting more and more, and doing less and less graphic design. In the fall of 2006 he closed his design business and now paints full time.
About half his work is done on location, and then finished in his studio from studies or photographs.
Horn lives in Fairfax, California with his wife and 2 young sons. He teaches several plein air workshops every year, and paints all over the Bay Area and beyond.
