(Patrick Wilson, Secret, 2012, acrylic on canvas, 49" x 59"; Courtesy of the artist and Marx & Zavattero, San Francisco) Los Angeles painter Patrick Wilson presents a magnificent new body of his brilliantly constructed, abstract acrylic on canvas paintings in his highly anticipated third solo exhibition titled 'Slow Motion Action Painting' at Marx & Zavattero, June 2 – July 14, 2012. Matilde Llambí Campbell at CELLspace April 22nd, 2012 - April 26th, 2012
Posted 4/29/12

I attended Matilde Llambi Campbell's show at CELLspace last weekend. Both her San Francisco cityscape photographs and her blue horizon seascape paintings were wonderful! I feel she must be part sea-creature (or sea goddess, perhaps?) the way her work loves, appreciates, captures, evokes the light, colors, luminosity of the sea and maritime sky. San Francisco is an inspired choice for her current artist-in-residence sojourn, as the city is more than a seaport; it's like an island, or even a ship, sa... [more]

The work depicts a human tendency to pray with an all powerful but unknown hand behind his living condition. To an indian it is so common to believe lord Ganesha to be driving away evil before it is too late. As an artist , the trend of man to think it this way is a deserving artistic painting which is as clumsy as that condition of mind! [more]

Christina Ray's new show is a small and eclectic collection of the works of two artists. Ms. Ray's own interest in process and experimental work is certainly apparent -- studies and sketches sit along side completed works. Ray's Glowlab, an artist run initiative whose main points of intrest include gritty urban scenes and psychogeography, was recently relaunched and has been relocated from Brooklyn to their newer Manhattan space. Though Glowlab's new Soho gallery is quite small, Ray has made fine use of...
