Description
I found this shot one day as I skulked around an industrial parking lot, waiting while my husband got our oil changed. The original image is a strangely complex but quite common recycled plastic black crate, leaning up against a wire fence. Beyond the fence a car is slightly visible. I liked the geometry of the piece but had absolutely no idea what to do with it. It sat on my hard drive for months... until today-- when I'm completely messed up on painkillers from an emergency health problem I had yesterday. Truth be told, I worked on this for hours but I don't remember exactly how I got it to look like this. I rather like that- its very uncharacteristic of myself and my work. I normally agonize over every image for weeks, reworking lines and fussing over every pixel. I particularly enjoy the idea of taking something so random and prosaic and somehow turning it into something completely different. In its current form, the image now reminds me of a patchwork quilt.
