Description

MARTIN IN PROGRESS

Statement

As a child of the 70's I grew up with the phrase I AM A MAN! though I was very inquisitive of what that might be. My mom and dad broke of there relationship when I was only 1 yr old and that day I would never see him again. As a child this started me on my quest  to find out what makes a man and what where the things I had to do to qualify as a man.

Well one day I when I was very young my mother played the speeches of Martin Luther King Jr. My grand mother explianed to me how important of a man he was, and this made me think of my dad as my imagination would allow me to draw pictures of him.

I would think of the phrase I AM A MAN! Today I teach my son the importance of being aware and responscible for his thoughts and activities.

This drawing MARTIN IN PROGRESS depicts MLK jr juxtaposed with the union workers of Chicago. This piece is reminisant of  the few men in my life that has left of past to the realm of the ancestors.
