Please join AXA Art and Cranbrook Academy of Art at the AXA Art Lounge within the Collectors Lounge at Art Basel Miami Beach

December 2, 2009
11:30 a.m.

On view will be a design installation by four of Cranbrook Academy's  Artists In Residence – Elliott Earls, Beverly Fishman, William Massie and Heather McGill.

In a creative collaboration, AXA Art commissioned the Cranbrook Academy of Art to conceptualize, design and build out the space to serve as a respite for guests of AXA Art during Art Basel  Miami Beach 2009.

AXA Art requested that the team use The Thrill of Creating as inspiration and consider modernity, functionality and innovation while transforming the lounge space.  Elements of the installation will employ design and lighting disciplines, consisting of undulating, pixilated walls constructed out of laser-cut cardboard over a steel armature, layered with applied patterns.   Moving patterns will be projected onto the walls and LCD displays running video loops will also be employed.  In addition to the ambient light created by the various projectors and displays, lighting design will be used to further shape the space.  Seating for fifteen will be provided out of the same laser-cut cardboard over steel armature”.

Editors please note:  members of Cranbrook’s design-build team will be available to answer questions.  AXA Art’s senior management will also be available for commentary.  For further information, please contact:
